Cocktail of the Month – Truly British

cocktail, Tudor Farmhouse Hotel. Clearwell, Forest of Dean

This is one of our favourite cocktails, and it’s easy to make. No specialist cocktail making equipment is needed.

  • Fill a high ball glass with ice
  • Add 50ml of gin and a splash of elderflower cordial
  • Top up with apple juice and garnish with a slice of apple in the glass and a slice of apple on the side

We would recommend the following ingredients:

Belvoir Fruit Farms Elderflower Cordial, which is available in most major supermarkets. Alternatively Bottle Green also do a nice cordial or you could decide to make your own.

We like to buy as locally as we can, so our apple juice comes from Ragmans Lane Farm in the Forest of Dean. We would recommend supported your local producer and buying British. We do make some great apple juice!

As for gin, there is so much choice these days! We use Foxtail Distillery from Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire. We love to buy local where possible and this gin is made in small batches in the heart of the Wye Valley. This is an exciting bold citrus gin which is fresh throughout. Subtle floral notes comes through from the locally foraged botanicals which once subsided give way to a long juniper finish with a good amount of spice.
