We cannot recommend Tudor Farmhouse highly enough. We spent 3 fabulous nights at this beautiful hotel, in a tranquil spot the hotel and accommodation is simply stunning as usual the food.  Verified It’s the little details that make Tudor Farmhouse so special
Puzzlewood is what brought us to this part of the country, but I think our stay at Tudor Farmhouse is what will be pulling us back! Celebrating my partner’s birthday usually involves three essential ingredients: good food, good wine and an adventure — so naturally, I went looking for somewhere special to stay nearby. From the moment we booked, I had a feeling that details mattered here. An email arrived asking about dietary requirements, stairs and even our bedding preferences. Thoughtfulness before we had even arrived. The hotel itself is every bit as charming as I’d hoped. Beautifully converted buildings sit amongst lush planting, with little pockets of privacy tucked throughout the garden. As evening falls, tealights flicker inside lanterns, casting a magical glow while the gentle sound of the water feature drifts through the air. Katie welcomed us and showed us to gorgeous and imacculately clean Room 9, complete with a freestanding roll-top bath positioned so you can soak in the bubbles while looking through the window to the garden beyond. I loved the choices throughout the room: beautiful Bramley natural toiletries, an array of unbleached tea bags, a coffee machine, wonderfully soft towels and — possibly a first in all my hotel stays — bubble bath provided for the bath. Tudor Farmhouse has managed to combine genuine care for the environment with a real sense of luxury, a combination I very much appreciated. There are thoughtful touches throughout the hotel too, including wellies and umbrellas to borrow and suggested walks straight from the doorstep. We headed out for a lovely countryside walk before returning for dinner. And then there was the food. Dinner was exceptional. Each course was so beautifully presented that I found myself excited to see what would arrive next. Even choosing from the main menu brought that wonderful sense of anticipation I associate with a tasting menu. Having discovered they offer one too, I already have another reason to return. The team had also remembered my partner’s birthday. A card appeared at our table, followed later by a delicious brownie, a candle and Happy Birthday. We hadn’t asked for any of it, which made it all the more special. Breakfast the following morning continued to the same wonderful standard. I could list another dozen little things Tudor Farmhouse gets right, but perhaps part of its charm is discovering them for yourself. When you leave feeling thoroughly spoilt, beautifully fed and genuinely rejuvenated, it feels like money very well spent. To the people behind Tudor Farmhouse and the team who bring it all to life: we noticed the details. They made all the difference. This one is most definitely noteworthy.

Wonderful three night stay - didn't want to leave . We were in the Byre room which was ideal for my husbands limited walking ability . Beautifully furnished and in keeping with the surroundings . Room was immaculately clean and very comfortable . The food is amazing and service throughout hotel is both discreet but attentive . I can't wait to return to this amazing place .

We had a great stay at the Tudor Farmhouse. It's a truly beautiful hotel in a gorgeous setting. We did a 10k run and a 4k walk from the door and both were lovely. Highly recommended if you like getting out on foot to explore quiet country lanes and paths. The room was great, up a twirly staircase but watch out for the low beam! We had dinner there one night and every course of the tasting menu was amazing. The other night we stayed we went next door to the pub and that was great too. Not sure what they put in the water in Clearwell but to have two quite different but equally outstanding hospitality businesses immediately next door to each other makes it a great place to visit.  Verified Lovely peaceful boutique hotel with friendly helpful staff.
We chose to stay at Tudor Farm before and after attending a friends wedding at Clearwell Castle. Our welcome was friendly and Emy showed us to our room, explained everything we needed to know and even asked if she could help fetch our bags from the car. The room was comfortable with a large very comfortable bed (we have a super king at home so this is important to us) Findin a mini fridge in the room with milk and water was a bonus and the separate shower room was well appointed with everything you could need like soaps, flannels and even a make up remover for my wife! Breakfast was a joy and although Full English and Eggs Benedict were both superb the absolue crown jewel was Chef's homemade Lime Marmalade. (You need to put some in jars and sell it!) Thank you all for a peacefull stay and close proximity to the Castle.

 Verified The Nest Suite - very pleasant stay
We made a late(ish) booking for a suite - only The Nest was available - but we weren’t disappointed. The suite was upstairs in the outbuilding by the car park - so easy to unload the luggage - and the view out was pretty decent overlooking the hillside. The suite was clean and well fitted - a separate bedroom and sitting area; but the bedroom was difficult to cool as it only had a small Velux window - which seemed to have just a trickle vent - maybe we needed to be heavier handed to open it? The breakfast was cooked fully to order and was plentiful. The evening meal was to a very good standard - but a limited (same) menu which sufficed as we only had 2 nights. Easy to access - plentiful secure on-site parking - overall easy to recommend.

 Verified A delightful, quintessentially British stay!
I came to Clearwell primarily to visit Puzzlewood, little did I know that my stay at the Tudor Farmhouse would be the highlight of my entire trip! Firstly, a huge thank you to the staff who were so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The attention to detail is exemplary and I loved the pamphlets with hikes around the area. The room was just delightful as well. A gorgeous skylight, beautiful wooden beams and an old fashioned bath, that I definitely appreciated after a full day of hiking! Lastly, I have never eaten so well! The food is just scrumptious and the chefs should be commended for their amazing skill and flavour! It is not an exaggeration when I say, this is the best food I've eaten in the UK. Thank you Tudor Farmhouse for a perfect weekend away!

Frequently Asked Questions

What time is check in and check out?

You can check in from 3pm, but you are more than welcome to arrive early to join us for lunch, or to head out for a walk. We can’t guarantee an early check-in but if the room is ready you will be welcome to go into the room early.

Check out is by 11am. A late check out of 12noon can be arranged for a fee of £50.

What does the price include?

All prices quoted are based on two people sharing the room, unless otherwise stated. All of our packages include breakfast. If dinner is included in your rate, this is a £50 per person allowance towards the dinner menu.

Are the rooms dog friendly?

We allow dogs to stay in three of our ground floor bedrooms (choose hen twin/double rooms when booking online) at a small charge of £10 per night. There is a limit of one dog per room. Please call us if you are looking to bring more than one dog on 01594 833046.

Dogs are allowed to join you for meals in the conservatory and garden. Only assistance dogs are allowed in the restaurants and lounge.

There is also a dog bath with warm water available to clean off muddy paws.

What is your hotel cancellation policy?

Should you have to cancel your booking please let us know as soon as possible.

Card details are taken to guarantee the room. The full package price will be charged 7 days before arrival. Hotel bookings can be cancelled or transferred up to 7 days prior to arrival with no charge. If less than 7 days notice of cancellation is given then a charge of 100% of the package price of your stay will be made. If we are able to relet the room, some or all of your cancellation charge will be refunded depending on how much we have let the room for. We would encourage guests to seek travel insurance to cover any possible cancellation charges.

For bookings of 6 or more rooms a deposit of £50 per room per night will be taken with the balance due 7 days prior to arrival. The deposit is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. Cancellations less than one month before the date of arrival will incur a charge of 100% of the invoice value.

For Bookings at Christmas and New Year, and for our retreats, a deposit of £100 per person is taken at the time of booking and the balance due 8 weeks before the stay date. Cancellations within 8 weeks of the day of arrival will be charged in full unless we can relet the room.

If you book our advance purchase rates (including the Nesting Break), full payment will be taken at the time of booking and this rate is then non refundable and non transferable.

Can families stay at the Tudor Farmhouse?

Yes, Tudor Farmhouse Hotel offers family-friendly accommodation, including suites with additional sofa beds and one family room with bunk beds suitable for children. The hotel’s location also makes it an excellent base for family activities in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.

Can I request a particular room?

Yes. On our booking engine you will be able to specify which suite you want to book. For all other room types (hen, cockerel and hatchling), please put add a note if there is particular room you would like to book. Alternatively, call us on 01594 833046 to speak to a member of the team, and we will be able to book the perfect room based on your requirements.
