Meaty treats and Manwiches for Father’s Day Afternoon Tea – June 2016

manwich Tudor Farmhouse Hotel. Clearwell, Forest of Dean
We’re very excited about our special Father’s Day Afternoon Tea on 19th June. Notoriously tricky to buy gifts for, this alternative Father’s Day Afternoon Tea might be just the way to show your dad just how much you appreciate him. Rob Cox our Head Chef has created this treat for dads who prefer scotch eggs to finger sandwiches and whose perfect brew is made from hops, not tea leaves. Elements will be bite sized (manly bites), heavy on the meat content (excluding the cakes), predominantly on the savoury side and feature our favourite local produce, and of course go with beer. These manly delights include Wye Valley black pudding and quail Scotch egg, wild boar Cinderhilll Farm sausage roll and Cowshill steak and Hillside Brewery ale pudding. The Manwhiches (crusts intact) come with robust ingredients, Single Gloucester and The Preservation Society’s chutney, Huntsham Farm roast beef, horseradish and watercress and home roasted ham with Wye Valley Apiaries’ honey and tomato. It wouldn’t qualify as an afternoon tea without at least one sweet thing and this takes the form of a delicious – and not too girly -chocolate brownie. Scones have their own dad-friendly slant – cheese and bacon scone, with marmite butter, of course. Refreshments come in the form of local ales (from either Kingstone or Hillside Breweries), or you can of course, take tea. Guests can take afternoon tea alongside the wood burner in the cosy lounge or, should the sun shine, take a table in the relaxing farmhouse garden. Served from 2-5pm on Sunday June 19th the Tudor Farmhouse Father’s day Afternoon Tea costs £15pp, £19 with local ale. Mums and daughters can join in too, choosing from a more traditional afternoon tea if they prefer. Father’s Day Escape Make Father’s Day an even more special occasion with our two night Father’s Day Break on Friday 17th & Saturday 18th June.
