There is so much for families to do in the Forest of Dean & Wye Valley. From a range of walks from our doorstep, to Puzzlewood and Clearwell Caves a short stroll away, you are bound to find a way to keep the children amused!
You could even bring your own bikes (or hire them) and store them in our cycle storage, with specially designed washdown (for the bikes not the children!). Or book onto one of our experiences (from foraging and wildlife safaris to stargazing). We have super fast wi-fi for the tech conscious teen.
Children Stay Free
Children under 12 stay free when sharing a room with their parents – just pay for their food.
Facilities
We can offer the following for children:
- high tea from 5-5.30pm
- family dining from 6pm
- board games to enjoy in the lounge
- kids packs on checkin for children under 11 with a countryside theme
Accommodation
Most of our hen and cockerel rooms will accommodate an additional bed for children staying with their parents. Alternatively, we have several rooms to suit families:
Our Family Room – Room 20 – is a hen room with a double bed and bunk beds in an alcove. There is a roll top bath in the room and a separate monsoon shower room.
The Cottage has an upstairs double bedroom with en-suite shower room and roll top bath in the bedroom, and a lounge downstairs with a pull out sofa bed.
The Nest is a suite on the first floor of the barn with a double bedroom and a pull out sofa bed in the lounge. The lounge has a wonderful picture window overlooking the land at the back of the hotel. The bathroom has a roll top bath and monsoon shower.
The Farmhouse Suite* is situated on the top floor of the main building, and consists of one of our suites (The Roost) and the small hatchling double bedroom next door.
The Cider House Suite* is situated on the ground floor of the Cider House overlooking the Cottage Garden. This consists of two bedroom, both with king size beds and en-suite bathrooms. One is a hen room and the other a cockerel room.
The Barn Suite* is situated in a separate section of the Barn. Room 22 is on the ground floor and can be made as a twin or a double. Room 23 is above room 22 and has a roll top bath in the bedroom, as well as a separate monsoon shower room. Both are hen rooms. Room 22 is a dog friendly room, so if you wish to bring your four-legged friend you can for an extra £10 per night.

Activities for Children:
- For children over the age of 14, hire electric bikes from Wye Bikes. Under 14? Hire bikes from Pedalabikeaway and enjoy the family cycle trail.
- Paddleboard with Paddleboarding Adventures.
- Enjoy a trip down the river Wye with Ross on Wye Canoe Hire.
- Join an underground mine tour at Hopewell Colliery. Or go caving at Clearwell Caves.
- Go on a llama trekking experience with Briery Hill Llamas.
- Abseil or rock climb with Borderland Outdoors.
- Swing through the trees at Go Ape or hire a Segway.
